Day Trips in Southern California

Monterrey, Carmel, Pacific Coast of California It's beautiful! A wonderful drive from Los Angeles to the northern coastal region of California. The water is different from Southern California beaches, more romantic than active. Share your trip with a friend who loves to fish off the pier or just sit and read a book. Monterrey offers the boardwalk, the aquarium, shopping and great restaurants with delicious clam chowder you can sample before you enter. It is truly a great family vacation. I didn't have the grand kids, but I loved going to the Dennis the Menace Park and I would surely make that a stop when I bring them to Northern California. The house wines are wonderful and we found a kool little spot to watch the game and enjoy camaraderie with the locals. Walk or drive around the city. There is so much to see and do. I really go just to get some rest and read a good book overlooking the romantic rush of ocean waves. |
San Diego, California
I love Jazz and Blues My favorite get away is not in the city of San Diego, It's Near San Diego by the Marina. The restaurant is Humphrey's and it shares property with a quaint hotel, Half Moon Inn. It's just the right amount of relaxation for an all- inclusive weekend in San Diego area
America I AM Tavis Smiley's exhibit declaring the history of Americans of African descent. Tickets and Information October 30, 2009 to April 10, 2010 California Science Center Exposition Park 395 39th Street & Figueroa Street Los Angeles, CA 90037 (323) SCIENCE (323) 724-3623 www.californiasciencecenter.org “Imagine our society if you extract black folk from it,” said Smiley, a few minutes before the ribbon-cutting ceremony. “There goes jazz. There goes the (1949) Armistice Agreements, if not for Ralph Bunche. I don’t want to think of a world without Dr. King. And what about the great athletes, Jackie Robinson and Muhammad Ali? And in L.A. We’d be in trouble without Garrett Morgan and his traffic light.” (vcstar.com, ventura county star)
Los Angeles, California A day trip to the museum would be a great excursion for you, friends, or family. A celebration of Dr. ML King Jr. and the contributions of African Americans to America.

Inspired by the exhibit. Find artifacts in museum to pay tribute to the achievements of Americans of African Descent like the collage of art by my uncle Otsel Roberts, a young artist who met an early death before the age of 25.
